The olive oil is the excellent Greek foodstuff. After thousands of years of production of olive oil, it is logical that for the Greeks it constitutes a basic element not only of its diet but, also, of its medicine, and its cosmetics. The olive oil has always occupied and it will occupy a fundamental place in the preparation of Greek food. In the modern Greece you can find Olive trees in the streets of Athens since it is considered to be the sacred tree from the antiquity.

 

The flavor, the aroma and the color of the Greek olive oil are the essential criteria of its superiority, recognized by the international market. The olive oil in the Greek culture 

 

The olive tree, its fruits and the olive oil, they are much linked to the Greek culture, since as we can appreciate in the Greek mythology, the foundation of Athens assumes to Cécrope, about the XVIth century B.C. and to its property development  and protector, the goddess Athena who, according to the legend, made an olive tree sprout in the city with the tip of her spear.
